Directions
Preparing and Preheating
Preheat your oven to 375°F.
Preheating your oven to the correct temperature is crucial for achieving a perfectly baked cookie. It helps to create a consistent heat distribution, preventing cookies from burning on the outside while remaining undercooked in the center.
Additionally, preparing your ingredients ahead of time will streamline the baking process. Gather all necessary ingredients and equipment. This will prevent any last-minute scrambling and ensure a smooth baking experience.
Baking sheets do not need to be greased, however, using parchment paper can help greatly with the clean up process!Mix Cookie Dough Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, add 1 pkg of Double Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix, 1 large egg, and 8 tablespoons of softened unsalted butter. If using a stand mixer or hand mixer, use the medium speed setting to combine the ingredients.
You can also head-knead the cookie dough if you don’t have a mixer.Form the Cookies and Bake Until Edges Are Set
Taking 2 tablespoons of cookie dough, roll gently in the palm of your hands until a ball is formed. Place each ball of dough 2 ½ inches apart on a cookie sheet.
Once the tray is full, place in the oven and bake for 9-11 minutes or until the edges of the cookies have set.Mix Frosting Ingredients
While the cookies are cooling, mix together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Start with 2 tablespoons of milk and add more if the frosting is too thick. Combine until the frosting is smooth and easily spread.
Decorate the Mummy Cookies
Once the cookies have cooled, it’s time to decorate!
Using a piping bag (or a Ziploc bag) or a spoon, apply long, thin lines of frosting across the cookie to resemble bandages. Start at one end of the cookie and work your way towards the other.
Once the frosting has been applied, add two candy eyes.
