Ingredients
-
1 pkg My Better Batch Classic Sugar Cookie Mix
- 8 TBSP Unsalted Butter, Softened
- 1 Large Egg
- Food Coloring
- Halloween Themed Sprinkles
- 1 bag Hershey’s Hugs or Hershey’s Kisses
Directions
Baking Basics: Preheating and Prep
Preheat your oven to 375°F.
Lining your baking sheet with parchment paper is an optional but recommended step. Here are some benefits of using parchment paper:Easy Cleanup: Parchment paper creates a non-stick barrier between your baked goods and the baking sheet, making cleanup a breeze. Simply lift the parchment paper with your baked goods and discard it after use.
Prevents Sticking: Parchment paper acts as a barrier, preventing your baked goods from sticking to the baking sheet. This reduces the risk of damage and ensures a clean, professional-looking result.
To use parchment paper, simply cut a piece to fit your baking sheet and place it on the sheet before adding your ingredients.
Pour a small amount of sprinkles into a bowl.
Unwrap the Hershey’s Hugs (or Kisses) - 15 - 20 is a good starting point.Prepare the Cookie Dough
Add 1 package of Classic Sugar Cookie Mix, 8 tablespoons of unsalted butter, softened, and 1 large egg to a large bowl or base of your stand mixer. Using a stand mixer or a hand mixer, set the speed to medium and mix until the ingredients have combined fully.
If you don’t have an electric mixer, it’s very easy to hand knead the cookie dough. Check out the Classic Sugar Cookie Mix baking video for a demonstration!
Once the raw cookie dough has formed, it’s time to add the food coloring. As shown in the video, purple is a great option, but feel free to go with whatever color inspires you! Add a few drops of food coloring at a time and mix until the perfect hue is achieved.Form Cookies, Add Sprinkles, and Bake
Using a spoon or cookie scoop, take 2 tablespoons of raw cookie dough and roll into a ball. Take each ball of cookie dough and roll it into the bowl containing the sprinkles until covered.
Place the sprinkle covered balls onto the cookie sheets, leaving 2 ½ inches between each.
Bake at 375°F for 9-11 minutes or until the edges of the cookie have set.Add Hershey’s Hugs
After removing the cookies from the oven, while the cookies are still warm, place a single Hershey’s Hug into the center, pressing lightly until well seated. Allow each cookie to sit on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack or plate.
