Celebration Cookie Directions
If you prefer a video format, check out “Let’s Bake It Together: Celebration Cookies”.
Preheat your oven to 375°F and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper for quick and easy clean up!
In a large bowl, add one package of Celebration Cookie mix, 8 tablespoons of softened unsalted butter, and 1 large egg. If using a stand or hand mixer, mix on medium for 2-3 minutes until the ingredients are fully combined.
If you don’t have a mixer, you can knead the ingredients together by hand.
Once fully mixed, take 2 tablespoons of cookie dough and gently roll into a ball. Place on the prepared cookie sheet, leaving 2 ½ inches between each ball. Continue until all of the cookie dough has been used.
Bake at 375°F for 9-11 minutes or until the edges of the cookies have set.
Once baked, leave the cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before moving to a cooling rack or plate.
Cookie Icing
In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Combine until smooth. Slowly add a few drops of food coloring until the perfect hue is achieved.
If you have icing piping bags, place the icing inside. If you don’t have piping bags, that’s OK! A Ziploc bag with the tip cut off of a corner will work just as well.
Decorating the Cookies
Wait until the cookies are completely cool before decorating.
Hold the piping bag at a 45-degree angle just above the cookie's surface.
Begin at the top of the cookie, applying gentle pressure to pipe a small dot. Then, slowly zigzag the icing back and forth as you work your way downward, slightly widening the lines with each pass to mimic the natural shape of a Christmas tree. Stop when you reach the base of the cookie.
For added flair, use sprinkles to mimic tree decorations! Take an M&M and place it at the top of the tree, making a chocolatey tree topper.
