Ingredients
-
1 pkg My Better Batch Chocolate Chunk Cookie Mix
-
6 TBSP Unsalted Butter
- 1 Large Egg
Directions
Prep Work
Preheat the oven to 375°F. If you’d like, line the cookie sheets with parchment paper.
Brown the Butter
In a light-colored saucepan or skillet over medium-high heat, melt 6 tablespoons of butter. As the butter melts, it will begin to bubble and form a foam on top. Gently swirl the pan and stir with a spatula, being careful not to let the butter burn. When the butter starts to boil, you'll notice small solid particles at the bottom of the pan turning golden brown. Once the butter reaches an amber brown color, remove it from the heat and pour it into a bowl to cool completely.
Combine Cookie Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 package of My Better Batch’s Chocolate Chunk Cookie Mix, the cooled brown butter, and 1 large egg. Using a stand mixer or hand mixer on medium speed to fully combine.
If you don’t have a mixer, hand-kneading is a great way to combine the ingredients! Check out the Chocolate Chunk Cookie Mix video for a demonstration.Form the Brown Butter Cookies and Bake
Take about 2 tablespoons of cookie dough and roll gently into a ball. Place each ball of dough about 2 ½ inches apart to allow the dough to spread.
Bake at 375°F for 9-11 minutes or until the cookie edges have set. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely

Recipe Note
Why brown butter? When butter is melted and gently simmered, the milk solids caramelize, creating a deep golden hue and a toasty flavor that adds layers of indulgence to each bite.
One of the most noticeable effects of brown butter is how it helps achieve the ideal balance between crispy edges and chewy centers. The water content in regular melted butter would typically create steam during baking, causing cookies to spread more and become flatter. Brown butter, however, has less moisture due to the evaporation of water during the browning process. This reduced moisture content allows for crisper edges, while the remaining fat creates a rich, chewy center.
Paired with generous chunks of semi-sweet chocolate in our cookie mix, the result is a cookie that’s crisp on the outside, gooey on the inside, and packed with bold flavors that will have you hooked after the first bite.
